A.label glue overflow caused by raw material manufacturer:

1.Improper surface treatment of the facestock: The facestock must be treated before combining with glue. If the treatment is not done well, the glue and the facestock will not be firmly bonded, and glue is easy to overflow during the following production and processing. Glue overflow caused by this is easy to check. We can stick the facestock on glue side, then peel them off  and see if there is any glue falling off from the facestock. If there is, it means that the pretreatment of the facestock is not good. This is a technical problem and we have to change a new supplier.

2. The glue performance is not good: generally speaking, hot melt adhesive has stronger fluidity, so it is easier to overflow than acrylic glue. Therefore, try not to use rubber-based glue for coating for plastic film label.

3. Unreasonable glue coating thickness: the acrylic coating weight of acrylic glue is around 20g/㎡, and the hot melt glue is 17g/㎡. If the glue coating weight is too high, it can enhanced sticky performance but glue is easy to overflow.Negotiate with label material manufacturer and adjust the glue formula to achieve high stickiness with a small amount of glue.

B. Glue overflow problem caused by printing factory: the workshop temperature is too high, the raw material storage temperature is too high, and the finished product storage temperature is too high. The higher temperature, the stronger of glue fluidity, and the easier it is to overflow. We’d better control workshop temperature around 18℃- 20℃,50±5% of Relative Humidity. we need to control it especially in summer.

C. Glue overflow caused by improper die-cutting process:Insufficient die-cutting depth , excessive winding tension and blade is not sharp enough.

1.If the die-cutting depth is insufficient, the glue is not completely cut off and the machine will bring out the glue and cause glue overflow.

2.Excessive winding tension causes glue overflow: After die-cutting, the label is exposed on all sides. If the winding tension is too large, the glue in the film label may be pressed out. Therefore, it is very important to control the winding tension of the die-cutting equipment.

3.The blade should be sharp enough, otherwise the blade will press the glue to the side of the label and cause glue overflow.

D. Glue overflow when labeling, this is caused by long storage time, high temperature of printing equipment and high labeling temperature.

1.Long storage time: For finished film self-adhesive labels, they should be used as soon as possible to avoid glue overflow. It is recommended that the storage time of finished film self-adhesive labels should not exceed 3 months.

2.The printing equipment temperature is too high: some printing equipment temperatures get very high during operation. For example, the UV lamp on the printing machine can reach a temperature of 70 to 80℃. Some digital printing equipment can reach a temperature of more than 150℃ during operation. There is a certain risk of glue overflow when printing film self-adhesive label materials on these devices.

3.High labeling temperature will Increased glue fluidity and cause glue overflow,we need to control labeling temperature strictly as advice we get from label material manufacturer.
